Sheppard 67, of Swainsboro died Friday in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Dublin, after a brief Illness. The funeral was conducted at 3pm Sunday from Eastwood Church of God. The Rev. Steve Strickland officiated, assisted by the Rev. Bert Flanders. Burial was in Swainsboro Cemetery. Mr. Sheppard was a native of Wheeler County. He was a retired employee of Swainsboro Print Works and was a US Army veteran of World War II with 17 years of service. Mr. Sheppard was a member of Eastwood Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary E. Smith Sheppard of Swainsboro; two daughters, Mrs. Effie Mae Woodwards of Waycross and Mrs. Charlene Sheppard of Meeks; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mary Hazel Moore of Meeks; a son, Larry Lee Sheppard of Swainsboro; three stepsons, Juden Roy Moore of Scott and Ricky Lee Moore and Donnie Lee Moore, both of Adrian; his father, John Sheppard of Kite; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Kight of Swainsboro; three grandchildrten; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Paul Whitfield, Hughie Steptoe, Fred Dunn, J. D. Moore, Johnnie Peebles, and Leonard Gregory. Peebles-Curry Mortuary of Swainsboro had charge of arrangements.
