Tyson, age 77, died Saturday afternoon, at the home of his son, G. J. Tyson, near here. He had been in failing health for two or three years, but was not confined to his bed until about a week before his death. Funeral services were held at the graveside at Garbutt's Cemetery near Summertown at 4pm Sunday, with Rev. C. A. Jackson officiating. Burial was in the cemetery. He was the son of the late Noah and Martha Tyson. He was born in Washington County, but moved to Emanuel County in early manhood. He was engaged in farming. He was the father of 13 children, seven of whom survive him; H. G. Tyson of Meeks, G. J. Tyson of Swainsboro, A. J. Tyson of Macon, Mrs. Mattie Smith of Augusta, Mrs. A. P. Coleman of Lakeland, Florida, Mrs. A. B. Cooper of Scott, and Mrs. Anna Harrell of Augusta. Also, he is survived by 31 grandchildren and one brother, J. D. Tyson of Wrightsville. Additional Comments: This obituary is in error rather to the father. He was born 28 May 1858 to Daniel P. Tison/Tyson and Martha Shepard Tison/Tyson. Georgia death certificate #25060. His wife was Mourning Varna Moody, who is also buried at Garbutts.
