He was born in Emanuel County, the son of Marietta Herrington Wilks and the late John Wesley Wilks, both natives of Emanuel County. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Anne Mae Bush Wilks of Johnson County; three children, Romedell Wilks of Savannah, Marjorie and Judy Wilks of Adrian; three step-children, Asa Rowland of the US Army, Ruby Lee and George Rowland of Adrian; mother, Mrs. John W. Wilks of Covena; five sisters, Mrs. Sadie Youmans of Wesley, Mrs. Callie Thompson, Mrs. Lillian Holton, Mrs. Cuma Holton, Mrs. Cuba McGee, all of Covena; six brothers, John A. Wilks, Felix Wilks of Covena, Carlie Wilks of Uvalda, Abson Wilks of Soperton, and Dewey Wilks of Norristown. Funeral services were held at 3pm Sunday from the graveside in the Herrington Cemetery near Covena, with the Rev. Herndon officiating. Pallbearers were: Lawson Wilks, Issac Youmans, Coy Phillips, Frank Herrington, Pierce Holton, Dolphus Holton, and Racket Paage. Swainsboro Mortuary was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
