Anderson The great, great, great grandson of Samuel Anderson born Aug 9 1798 -died Nov 5 1876, the patriarch of those buried in the Anderson Family Cemetery Location: From the Union Baptist Church, located in Fannin County, Georgia, on GA 60, go north towards Copperhill, Tennessee and McCaysville, Georgia just a few yards, then turn right onto Salem Road (county road 86). Proceed East exactly eight-tenths (.8) of one mile to a point where the road takes a dip. There is a gravel road on the right which drops off sharply down hill and goes towards the South. Follow this gravel road until you come to a fork in the road, bear left and immediately proceed uphill where you will come into view of the cemetery in a clearing at the top of the wooded knoll . Maps: The Anderson Cemetery is clearly marked as such on Fannin county maps as are most all known cemeteries and churches. Establishment: Otis Harper, a second cousin, once removed, stated to the author that John W. Anderson had donated the land that the Anderson Family Cemetery is located on "to the community." According to Otis, the only known condition for being buried there is to be related to the family of John W. Anderson ... which is not a hard thing to be in Fannin County. The exact boundaries of the cemetery are marked with stakes located just outside the currently cleared off area. Names, dates and inscriptions: Are word for word. Inscriptions are shown in quotations " " and maiden names are shown in brackets [ ], the latter are generally not found on the stones themselves but have been added by the author. Family Relationships: Where the same has been established, the relationship between individuals has been stated both according to index number and by name, and is show in par ens ( ) . Example: #30 John W. Anderson, dates and "inscriptions," (son of #37, Thomas F. Anderson and the husband of # 29, Urania M. [Willson] Anderson. ) Personal verification of data: The Anderson Family Cemetery was mapped, inventoried, and photographed by the author on 23 June 1997, noting the data from each stone on a tape recorder and mapping the location of each stone on graph paper. This information was transcribed on 7 March 1999 to a typewritten format. Notations and relationships between individuals. were established and entered from the data on the author's Personal Ancestral File (PAF)computer program on 27 October 1997 and later scanned into this electronic format 1 October 1999. This list was last revised 25 August 2008 and the data from the PAF program moved via a gedcom file to a new Reunion 9 genealogy program for the Macintosh computer to be merged with other family members, not buried in the Anderson Family Cemetery.
