Directions; Drive East out of Blue Ridge on Hwy 76-2. Turn left (N) just past the shopping center on the east side town, (Windy Ridge Road) Go about two miles to Hogback Road---turn right and wind around the mountain and along side the Toccoa River. The cemetery is on the right side of the road on a dim path. George Dickey Hannah Taylor Dickey Born: April 26, 1776 Born: October 1777 Died: Sept. 15, 1842 Died: Jan. 25, 1868 There are Fieldstone Markers for 26 of their Slaves who lie beside them. In a ceremony titled "Together on Hogback Mountain", this Cemetery was re-dedicated on June 13, 1999. Key Note speakers were Rep. Cynthia McKinney D-GA and Fred Craddock, Prof. Emeritus, Emory University. Many notables, including descendents, both black and white, attended the ceremony. The Dedication Stone reads; "Here among familiar pines, rest two pioneers of these hills, and more than a score slaves, nameless here, though not the sweat and grief they gave to this soil. Together, they are equal in our hearts and in God's hands."
