Georgia Direction from Atlanta, Ga. Travel north on Interstate 75 to 575 in Kennesaw Travel 575 and it will change to 515 / Ga. 5 Turn right on Ga. 60 and travel a few miles to Morganton. Turn right on Church St. and travel one block. Distance: Approximately 90 miles from Atlanta. Survey Started: September 4th. 2005 Survey Completed: September 5th. 2005 The first internment in the old portion of the cemetery, with a inscribed grave marker, was Gratz JERVIS - May 7, 1873 The old portion of the cemetery is on the south side of Church Street. The first internment in the new portion of the cemetery, with a inscribed grave marker, was Burley M. Thomas - Jul 31, 1959 The new portion of the cemetery is on the north side of Church Street. There are approximately 330 graves with inscribed markers. There are at least 25 graves marked with fieldstone or concrete blocks, with no inscriptions. Any omissions or mistakes Were not intentional.
