He went to work with the Tennessee Copper Company on September 1, 1936, and he retired April 1, 1967. Prior to this employment he was with the old D. C. & L. of Isabella. Mr. Parris is a former chairman of the Fannin County Board of Education. He is survived by his wife, the former Jessie Hickey of the home on the old Blue Ridge road; two daughters, Mrs. Orville Opp, of Atlanta; and Mrs. Jack McLaughlin, Doraville, Ga.; three sons, Col. Sam H. Parris, Ft. Monmouth, N. J., John N. Parris, Decatur, Ga., and Joel Ben Parris, Rome, Ga.; one brother, Farrish Parris, Englewood, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Edith Chancey, Los Angeles, Mrs. Evelyn Howell, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. E. E. Hellerstedt, and Miss Ethel Parris, Blue Ridge Highway; and 13 grandchildren. Interment was in the Toccoa Cemetery.
