Georgia, Fayette County} To any minister of the Gospel, Judge, Justice of the 
Inferior Court, or Justice of the Peace. You are hereby authorized to join 
Jesse Ward and Elizabeth Liles in the Holy State of Matimony according to 
the laws and constitution of this State and for so doing this shall be your 
sufficient license given under my hand and seal this 17th Day of Aug. 1841.

duly joined in Matimony by me this 31st day of October 1841. G. C. King J.P.

According to a descendant of Jesse Ward, Elizabeth Liles (or Lyles) was first 
married to Stephen D. Lyles on Nov. 8, 1829 in Fayette County, Georgia. 
Elizabeth's maiden name was Graves.
