McGinnis born: September 9, 1842 died: July 7, 1920 (transcriber’s note: this is Robert Moore McGinnis, born in Forsyth County, Georgia, the son of George Washington McGinnis and Hannah Foster. Hannah was widowed by 1844-1845. Robert’s siblings were: Jemima, born 20 August 1836, Gwinnett CO GA, married William Henry Bagley on 9 March 1854 in Gwinnett CO GA , died 29 December 1903, Murray CO GA, buried at Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery, Ramhurst, Murray CO, GA Elizabeth A, born circa 1844, GA, unmarried in 1880 George Washington, Jr.born 1845 July in GA, maried Martha Eveline Thompson, died 1921 May 15 Senatobia, Tate CO, MS Both Robert and George served the Confederacy in Company G, Ninth Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, Walker CO GA CSA. Robert enlisted as a Private on June 12, 1861. He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on July 2, 1863. He was transferred from Ft. Delaware DE to Fort McHenry, MD on July 5, 1863. He was admitted to the USA Smallpox Hospital at Pt. Lookout, MD on November 11, 1863. Returned to duty December 11, 1863. Roll for 2/28/1865 lists him “Absent, Prisoner.” No further record. George enlisted as a Private on March 4, 1862. He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on July 2, 1863. He was transferred from Ft. Delaware DE to Fort McHenry, MD and exchanged February 13, 1865. James’ wife Mary Myrtle and his daughter Mandy Estelle were killed on April 24, 1908 when a tornado destroyed their home.)
