Written: January 1, 1834

This Indenture made this second day of January in the year of our Lord one 
thousand eight hundred thirty four between William Scales of the County of Hall 
& State of Georgia of the one part & James Ellis of the County of Floyd & State 
aforesaid of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said William Scales for & in 
consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt 
whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold released & 
conveyed unto the above named James Ellis his heirs, executors, administrators 
& assigns forever a certain lot of land lying & being and situated in the 
fourth section & sixteenth district of original Cherokee County now Floyd and 
distinguished in the plan of the said district by Lot number one hundred and 
seventy two (172) together with all & singular the appurtenances thereunto 
belonging & I the said William Scales do warrant & defend the above named lot 
of land from me my heirs executors administrators or against & the rights of 
any other person or persons whatsoever unto the said James Ellis his heirs 
executors administrators and assigns in fee simple.  In Witness whereof I have 
hereunto set my hand  & seal the date above written.
