McBrayer File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Milt & Barb Wallis Table of Contents page: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/floyd.htm Georgia Table of Contents: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm The envelope is post office stamped Rome, Ga. June 25, 1923 from a Mrs. D. A. McBrayer 301 Ala. St. Rome, Ga. (to our grandmother) Mrs. J. E. Wallis, Elida, N.M. Dear Mrs. Wallis, I guess you are beginning to think you are not going to hear from us at all. We wrote Mr. White a letter of thanks to publish in the paper and we wanted some copies of the paper but haven't heard from him yet. We arrived in Atlanta Sat. night about 10:00. Spent the night there and came to Rome early Sunday a.m. carried Mr. McBrayer out to Mt. Pleasant about eight miles from Rome where all of our people are buried. I am with my mother and brothers for the present but it seems awfully lonely not to have a home of my own anymore. I try to forget but sometimes it looks like I can't hardly stand it. I think about you often and never will forget your kindness to us. I will always love the Elida people. We still have lots of rain here and the farmers are behind with their work. The children are all well and of course were glad to get back to Rome. Tell Miss Mae, I am going to write her real soon. Please write me sometime.
