There is no dearth of candidates for the position of first commissioner, which pays a salary of $3,900 a year, or for the four deputy commissioners' places, each paying $300 a year. There are five candidates for the first commissioner's place, and eighteen for the other four places. It is likely that a second primary will be held, as it is improbable that any candidate will receive a majority of the votes cast. For first commissioner there are: C. S. Pruden R. H. McClain J. R. Cantrell W. M. Gammon and Cornelius Terhune. For deputy commissioners: A. B. Arrington A. Randle F. M. Irwin A. S. Harvey J. P. Davis J. C. Printup J. W. Keown F. J. Kane F. B. Holbrooks C. C.
