The college and city are crowded with visitors from all parts of the south, who have come to see their daughters receive their diplomas, or to hear the splendid addresses that will be given during the commencement season, or to enjoy the social pleasures of the occasion. Among those who are here are: Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Dobbs, of Commerce. Dr. and Mrs. A. W. Boone, of Memphis, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Root, of Plant City, Fla. Mrs. W. R. Wilkes, Durant, Miss. Mrs. Jabez Galt, Adel, Ga. Mrs. H. R. Phillips, Harlem, Ga. Mrs. W. N. Akin, Brunswick, Ga. Miss Grace Davis, Newnan, Ga. Miss Louise Bennett, Quitman, Ga. Miss Katherine Rutledge, Gallatin, Tenn. Miss Ophelia Davis, Columbus, Ga. Miss Juanita Bennett, Waycross, Ga. Miss Flora Crumpton, Selma, Ala. Mrs. Benjamin Wilkes, Durant, Miss. Miss Florine Walker, Newnan, Ga. Miss Marie Diffee, Cordele, Ga. Miss A. W. Clark, of Moultrie. The commencement exercises are unusually beautiful and interesting. The exhibits by the departments of art and home economics on Saturday afternoon surprised and delighted all who saw them, the annual concert on Saturday evening was faultlessly rendered and won the greatest enthusiasm and applause from the large audience who heard it. Published Tuesday May 25, 1915. (Second article, June 6, 1915) PHI MU HOUSE PARTY Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Phillips have been entertaining at their home "Ligon" in north Georgia a Phi Nu house party for their cousin, Miss May Phillips, who graduated from Shorter college last week. With Miss Phillips were her soroity and school mates, Misses Gladys Willingham, Cobbie Mae Dean, of Rome, and Katherine Rutledge, Gallatin, Tenn. For the week-end were Messrs, Walter Coker, Calder Willingham, J. R. Jones, Ligon. Henderson Rome, and Graham Trippe, Atlanta. The occasion was delightfully informal with automobile parties, Dutch suppers and other affairs. Each afternoon and evening brought a number of young people from Rome and Cartersville to join the house guests. Thursday Messes Willingham, Phillips and Rutledge went to Rome to be with Miss Dean for a short visit. Published June 06, 1915.
