Hollon blonditou@comcast.net November 6, 2003, 1:33 pm The Constitution: Atlanta Georgia The Injures Proved Fatal John Montgomery Dies-Was Hurt in a Runaway Rome, GA., July 26 (Special), John Montgomery, one of the most prominent young farmers in Floyd Co., died this afternoon from injuries recieved in a runaway last Sunday. He was out driving in a double team with Miss Taldafferro, of Sandersville, in Van's Valley. The horses became frightened and ran at a terrific speed. The young lady was thrown from the vehicle, but recieved only a few bruises. Montgomery clung to the lines until hr was drawn over the dash board. His spine was broken, neck dislocated and his lower jaw broken and driven back to the base of his brain. He was unmarried and twenty-seven years of age.
