Another Confederate Veteran Crosses Over

John Allen, aged 75 years, passed away Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his 
home on Branham avenue. He leaves a wife,two sons and a daughter.

Mr. Allen came to Rome shortly before the civil war. He was born in South 
Carolina. When the war broke out he joined the Confederate army and gave four 
years of gallant service for the stars and bars.

The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence. 
Dr. Headden will officiate. The interment will be in the Fellowship burying 
grounds.
