C. (Rita) Aycock 601 West 11th St., died at 6:15 p.m. Monday at her residence following an illness of several years. Mrs. Aycock was born February 12, 1889 in Floyd County, the daughter of the late Jope Brisco Beard and Sara Elizabeth Duke Beard. She spent her life here. She was a member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church; and prior to retirement 28 years ago, was employed by Rome Manufacturing Company for 40 years. She was married on June 8, 1912 to Richard C. (Dick) Aycock, who preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1952. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marlin (Florence) Fowler and Mrs. Roy (Ava Lee) Horton, both of Rome, a foster daughter, Mrs. Wayman (Jerry Ann) Holder, Rome; two sons, Joe B. Aycock, Rome, and W. Raymond Aycock, Lithia Springs; a sister Mrs. J. C. (Josie) Ayers, Rome, a half-sister Mrs. Raleigh (Alma) Reed, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church, with the Revs. Willard Willis, Horace Stewart and Larry Burgess officiating. Interment will be in East View Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include David Fowler, Ray Fowler, Rip Aycock, Billy Aycock, Harold Howton (Horton?), and Fred Holcombe.
