Atkins Passes at 83 John Dock Atkins, 83, died at his home, Cave Spring Route 1, (April 01, 1945) at 11:45 o'clock yesterday morning. He had been ill for six months, his condition becoming serious a week ago. Born in Summerville, June 7, 1861, Mr Atkins moved to Floyd County 40 years ago and was a membor of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, John L. Atkins, of Cave Spring; a daughter, Mrs Beatrice Davis, of Rome, Bill Atkins, of Lindale, 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home. The Rev W. F. Conn of Rome, and the Rev Chandler of Cave Spring will officiate. Interment will be in New Armuchee Cemetery. Six grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
