Obituary for J. C. Atkins, Jr., April 08, 1922 - December
31, 1996


J. C. Atkins, 74, of 21-A Nan Lee Drive, died Tuesday at
a Rome hospital. Mr. Atkins was born in Morgan County,
Ala., April 8, 1922, son of the late Joe Atkins and
Bessie Dobbs Atkins.  He was a member of Shady Grove
Baptist Church, an Air Force veteran and owned Atkins'
Heating and Air Conditioning, Marietta.  Survivors
include: his wife, Pat R. Atkins, to whom he was married
Nov. 7, 1987; a son, Gary Atkins, Acworth; a daughter,
Debra White, Liverpool, N. Y.; three stepsons, Jimmy
Clowdus, Stockbridge, Chuck Clowdus, Kennesay and Ricky
Clowdus, Chamblee; three sisters, Christine Brock and
Mildred Stone, both of Rome, Pauline Evans, Huntsville,
Ala.; 10 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  Funeral
services will be at 2 p. m. Saturday at Fred Talley's
Parkview Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles
Callhan Officiating.  Interment will be at Oaknoll
Memorial Gardens.
