Born in Greenville, SC. March 20, 1866, daughter of the late Jim and Elizabeth Jordon Smith, she had been a resident of Floyd and Bartow Counties for 68 years and was a member of Barnsley Methodist Church. Surviving are the husband, Charles R. Barnes; one daughter, Mrs. Lula Lanham, of Kingston, Route 1; three brothers, R. C. Smith of Pelzer, S.C., Eugene Selman, of Williston, S.C. and J. B. Selman, of Rome Route 6; one sister, Mrs. Lula Williams, of Willston, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Barnsley Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Coleston and the Rev. Russell Head officiating. Interment will be in Barnsley Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the residence until time for the services. Pall bearers will be six great-grandsons.
