Mrs. Burkhalter, 72, Dies Early Monday
   Mrs. Maggie E. Burkhalter, 72, died Monday morning at 6:30 o'clock
at her residence, 1135 North Broad street, after a long illness. She resided
in Calhoun County, ALa., until two months ago, when she came here to 
reside with her daughter, Mrs. W. T. McCurry. She was a member of the
Christian church.
   Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Pisgah.
Dr. John H. Wood will officiate, with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
  Surviving Mrs. Burkhalter are her daughter; one sister, Mrs. J. F. Norris;
three brothers, Matthew, William and George Broom, all of Alabama;
seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
