Mrs. Byars was born on Dec. 21, 1918, in Cherokee County, AL, the daughter of the late Walter Boggs and Emma Ruth McCain Boggs. She lived most of her life in Floyd County and was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. Mrs. Byars also volunteered as a Gray Lady at Floyd Medical Center. She loved to work with flowers and gardening. Mrs. Byars loved and enjoyed her children, grand- children and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband , John H. Byars in June 1987 and her parents. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James "Bill" W. Byars, and Linda of Rome, a daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Mike Locklear of Rome; two grandchildren, Michael Locklear and Dee Dee Wilson, six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Turner and Cole Locklear, Jordan Salmon, Dakota Wilson and Jeremy Honea. One sister, Jewell Ramsey, of Rome also survives. Graveside and interment services will be held Friday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gary Batchelor officiating. The family will receive friends at Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Frances Byars are under the direction of Jennings Oaknoll Chapel.
