Mrs. Barnes was a native of Bartow County, but had spent the greater part of her life here. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Nancy Reeves Lanham, and was a member of the Barnsley Chapel Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, N. J. Barnes in 1956. Survivors include six daughter, Mrs. Lois Johnston, Mrs. Clarence Branton, Mrs. Sarah Darnell, and Mrs. Dorothy Bowen, all of Rome, and Mrs. Milton Langham of Kingston, and Mrs. Jess Deal of Rossville; one son, Frank Barnes of Rome; on sister, Mrs. Russell Head of Kingston; three brothers, Forrest and Walter Lanham, both of Rome and Willie Lanham of Kingston; 33 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, the Rev. Paul Willis officiating. Interment will be in the Mizpah Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include Gail Floyd, Doyal Langham, Charles Langham, Dwyatt Deal, Bill Barnes and Gary Barnes. The body will be at the residence, 121 East 13th Street, after 4 p.m. today. Henderson-Frazier Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. (Note: Died July 27)
