Barnes, 76, Dies Early Sunday; Funeral Held Today Nathaniel Jackson Barnes, 76, farmer, of Kingston, Rt. l, died at the residence at 2:10 a.m. Sunday. Although Mr. Barnes had been in declining health for the past two years, his death came unexpectedly. He was born in Kingston, Dec. 7, 1879, son of the late Jackson and Adeline Potts Barnes and had spent his entire life in Floyd and Bartow Counties. Mr. Barnes was married to the former Minnie Lanham on Feb. 23, 1913. She survives, along with seven daughters, Mrs. Sara Darnell, Mrs. Melton (Milton) Lanham, Mrs. Roger Bowen and Mrs. Tom Strickland, all of Kingston, Rt. 1, Mrs. Clarence Branton, Rome Rt. 4, and Mrs. Jessie Deal, Chattanooga; one son, Frank Barnes, Rome Rt. 5; one step-son, Willie Pearson, Calhoun; one sister, Mrs. Lida Raper, Byronville. Thirty grandchildren and 25 great- grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. today at Mizpah Methodist Church. The Rev. J. W. Eberhart, the Rev. G. Emmett Smith, and the Rev. J. Russell Head officiated. Interment was in Mizpah cemetery. Pallbearers include Tom Strickland, J. S. Beal, Clarence Branton, Milton Langham, ?(illegible) Webb and James Pearson. (Note: died Nov. 11)
