Willard Willis officiating. Interment will be at Barnsley United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Barnes, 85, of 93 Meadow Drive, died Thursday at a Rome health care center. She was born in Gordon County on Oct. 20, 1914, daughter of the late John Luther Payne and Julia Mae Worley Payne. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include her widower, Cecil Franklin Barnes, to whom she was married on Dec. 23, 1936; two sons, Billy Barnes, Kingston, and Gary Barnes, Rome; two daughters, Ruth Barnes, Rome and Patsy Adair, Adairsville; two brothers, Ford Payne, Taylorsville, and L.V. Payne, Rome; one sister, Doris Montgomery, Rome, nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
