E. Barnes, 73, Dies Monday J. E. (John Earl) Barnes, well known 73-year old Floyd County farmer, died at his residence on the Alabama Road last night following an extended illness. He had been a resident of this county for the past 40 years. Surviving are the widow, the former Lillie Belle Norton; four daughters, Misses Estell, Ruth and Ruby Barnes, and Mrs. J. T. Youngblood, all of Rome; five sons, J.W. of Anniston; H.E. of Atlanta, Frank H. of Chattanooga; W. N. of Battlecreek, Mich., and A. N. Barnes of Rome; two brothers, H. J. of Anniston and N.E. Barnes of Gadsden, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. M.C. Redden and Miss Stella Barnes, both of Gadsden and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Calvary Independent Baptist Church by the pastor, the Rev. H.E. Wright, and burial will be in the East View Cemetery. Six nephews will serve as pallbearers. (Note: died May 20)
