William DeJournette Folds Hands At Residence of His Sister
Funeral Today at 9:45
His Death Removes Splendid Man; Served in the War Between the States

Sorrow to many hearts in Rome will be caused by the news of the death of 
William DeJournette, which took place Saturday at 2 p.m., at the home of his 
sister, Mrs. S.M. Knox, in Atlanta. The interment will take place this morning 
at 9:45 at the family lot on Myrtle Hill, conducted by Rev. C.C.Jarrell.
Mr.DeJournette was born and reared in Rome. He had an honorable career as a 
soldier in the war between the States, was a man of splendid character, and his 
death will be mourned by a wide circle of relatives and friends. He was 71 
years of age and unmarried. He has been in feeble health with paralysis for 
several years.
He was a brother of Mrs. E.E. Holder, Mrs. M.E. Gibson, of Rome; Mrs. S.M.Knox, 
of Atlanta, J.R. DeJournette, of Brunswick, John DeJournette of Calhoun, and 
H.H. DeJournette, of Denver, Col.
The body will be sent here from Atlanta reaching Rome at 9 a.m. The funeral 
services have been held there and here there will be only a short service at 
the grave.
The pallbearers are to be J.A. Rounsaville, E.T. McGhee, E.L. Bosworth, G.B. 
Holder, A.M. Word, and J.L. Brannon. They are requested to meet at Hank's 
undertaking parlors at 9 a.m.
Mr. and Mrs Knox, of Atlanta, J.R. DeJournette, of Greenville, and John 
DeJournette, of calhoun, will come here for the funeral.
