Dobbs, 84, 3 Circle Drive, Lindale, died Saturday in an out of town hospital, he had been in declining health for the past five years, his condition becoming serious one week ago. Mr. Dobbs, was born in Floyd County Dec. 24, 1875, son of the late Joseph B. and Mary E. Hollis Dobbs, and had spent his entire life here. He was a retired Pepperell Mfg. Co. employee [sic], and a member of the Pleasant Hope Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Sara E. Stanford, to whom he was married in 1902; three daughters, Mrs. Fair Ballard, Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Douglas Padgett, Lindale, Miss Eula Dobbs, Lindale; four sons, Jether [sic] V. Dobbs, College Park; Dennis D. Dobbs, Silver Creek, Rte. 1, Willard J. Dobbs, Cedartown and Milburn J. Dobbs, Portsmouth, Portsmouth Co., VA.; three sisters, Mrs. Nenie Compton, Gaither Park; Mrs. Bertie Mull, Rome, and Mrs. Bessie Atkins, Rome. Eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conduct-officiatng [sic] with burial in the family Church with the Rev. Willard Willis, and the Rev. E. S. Morris officiating [sic] with burial in the family lot of Pleasant Hope Cemetery, Floyd Co., GA, the day and hour to be announced later. Active pallbearers will be T. P. Mull, Elmer Mull, Glenn M. Atkins, Von Brock, Oliver Tucker and Don Madden. The body will lie in state at the Jackson-Frazier Funeral Home and the family will receive friends there tonight from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the home, 3 Circle Drive, Lindale. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the services. Obituary for Mary Adaville Hollis Dobbs, May 10, 1844 - July 19, 1931 Mary had been a citizen of Floyd county for more than sixty years and a faithful member of the Pleasant Hope Baptist church for more than a century [sic]. Mrs. Mary Dobbs, 87 years old, died Sunday at 4:30 A.M., after a long illness. Mary was preceeded [sic] in death by her husband, J. B. Dobbs, who died 21 years ago. Surviving is one son, Curtis M. Dobbs, of South Lindale with whom she had made her home for 15 years, and three daughters: Mrs. E. O. Mull, South Lindale; Mrs. J. C. Watkins, Hartwell [sic], Ala.; and Mrs. C. C. Campton, of Wax. Twenty-six grandchildren and more than a dozen great grand children survives. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 P.M. from the Pleasant Hope Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. J. E. Smith, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Johnson. Buriel [sic] was in the Pleasant Hope Cemetery, Floyd Co., GA. The following grandsons, and grand sons-in-laws, acted as pallbearers: Ira Shamblin, John Burkhalter, J. V. Dobbs, Preston Mull, Horace Compton and Elmer Mull.
