Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 24, 2004, 1:19 pm (Rome News Tribune, Rome, GA., Monday April 3, 1995) Mrs. Iva Chambers White, 84, of 2815 Old Summerville Road, Armuchee, died Sunday morning at a Rome hospital after a short illness. Mrs. White was born in Walker County, March 26, 1911, daughter of the late Charles A. Chambers and Kitty McInnis Chambers. She married John C. White, Dec. 6, 1928. She was a longtime resident of Floyd County and was a member of Armuchee Southern Methodist Church. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a clerk with the Armuchee Post Office for 20 years. Mrs. White was Past Worthy Matron of the Floyd Springs Chapter No. 443 Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, May 27, 1977. Survivors include; three daughters, Charlene McCollum, Cedar Bluff, Ala., June Allen, Winder, Betty White, Armuchee; a son Charles White, Rome; 12 grandchildren: 22 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday from Jennings Heritage Chapel with Rev. Jim McRee and Rev. Lee Brown officiating. Interment will be in Floyd Springs Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. White will lie in state at Jennings Heritage Chapel where the family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 PM and at other hours they may be contacted at the residence. Pallbearers who are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 PM Tuesday include, Terry White, Tony McCollum, Mike McCollum, Dan Allen, James Hovers, Gary Adkins and Tim McCollum.
