Thursday June 28, 1956) Miss Minnie Elizabeth Smith, of Cave Spring, a retired school teacher died Wednesday afternoon in a Rome convalescent home following an illness of several months. Miss Smith was born in Cave Spring, daughter of the late Nannie Tilly and R. N. Smith. She was a member of the Cave Spring Methodist Church. She had taught in the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring; at Staunton, VA., and at Colorado Springs, from which she retired six years ago. Surviving are a number of cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Cave Spring Methodist Church. The Rev. Wesley Stephens and the Rev. Sam A. Dalley will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Cave Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: Wheeler Gibbons, Fred Forbes, Rolfe Kennard. Raymond Manos, Steve Pettis, Paul Sewell and A. J. Casey, Jr. The body will lie in state at Daniel Funeral Home Until 1:30 p.m. Friday when it will be removed to the church. (Rome News Tribune, Rome, GA.
