Stephens wend@bellsouth.net April 19, 2004, 12:39 pm (Rome News Tribune, Wednesday, November 1, 1944) William Fletcher Myers died at the home of his son, Harvey Myers, on Route 1, Lindale, at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. He suffered a stroke of paralysis on July 21, from which he never recovered. Born in Hall County near Gainesville, Mr. Myers moved to Rome 20 years ago. He made his home in Rome until going to visit his son five weeks age. He was married to Miss Louola Roberts 44 years ago, who preceded him in death. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Rollins, of Cave Spring, Route 2; two sons, Harvey Myers, Lindale Route 1, Lee Myers, of Rome Route 4, and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in Mount Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. Ed Dempsey. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Hurbert Whitlock, Clarence Whitlock, George Gillam, Amos Gillam, Rawl Ashley and Bud Ashley will serve as pallbearers. The remains will be carried to the home of his son, Lee Myers, on the Callier Springs Road, late this afternoon, to rest there until time for services. His wife, the former Miss Louola Roberts, preceded him in death more than 20 years ago.
