Rome News Tribune, Sunday, October 28, 1962
Oscar Andrew Smith, age 85, of Rockmart, Rte. 2, a retired farmer and native of 
Floyd County, died in a Rockmart convalescent home Saturday morning. He was 
born in Floyd County, Nov. 22, 1876, son of the late George and Rebekah 
Drummond Smith, pioneer settlers. Surviving are four sons, J. D. and R. A. 
Smith, both of Lindale; Charles Smith, Cedartown; Hugh Smith, LaGrange; four 
daughters, Mrs. Roe Williams, Rockmart; Mrs. Grady Hale, Marietta; Mrs. J. W. 
Carpenter, Aragon, and Mrs. Paul Walter, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Grady, 
Florida. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at by the 
Freeman Harris Funeral Home of Rockmart. (Rome News Tribune, Sunday, October
