Hanks Passes Away On Tuesday Succumbs To Brain Trouble; Body To Be Laid To Rest At Piedmont. Ala. A death particularly sad to scores of Romans, who laved[sic] her devotedly is that of Mrs. Edna Carolina Hanks which occurred Monday evening at her home on Harper and Bualer streets. Mrs. Hanks was 72 years of age and had been sick for three weeks with brain trouble. She was a devoted and consistent member of the Baptist church and was known for her kind deeds and loving disposition. Her husband, J. Hugh Hanks preceded her in death 32 years ago. There will be a short service this morning at 8 o'clock from the residence; and the remains will be carried over the Southern to Piedmont, Ala., where she will be laid in her final resting place in the family burying grounds. The services at the home will be conducted by Rev. J.G. Hughes of the South Broad Baptist church. She leaves to mourn her loss, one brother, J.A. Glover; four daughters, Mrs. Butler Long of Piedmont, Ala., Mrs. John Cobb, of Goshen, Ala. Misses Ada and Fannie Hanks of Rome, three sons, J.G. and J.D. Hanks of this city and J.F. Hanks of Talladega. The pall-bearers, L.M. Turner, J.S. Bachman, J.R. Cantrell, W.L. Daniel, A.D. Starnes and John Stewart, are requested to meet at Hanks Furniture establishment at 7:30 this morning.
