"HENRY KLASING, PIONEER ROMAN, DIES ON TUESDAY


Henry J. Klasing, pioneer of Rome, died Tuesday afternoon
at 2 o'clock at his residence, 11 Klassing Street. He had
been in declining health for the past two years, but his
condition did not become serious until three years ago. 


Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30
o'clock from the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home. Dr.
Bunyan Stephens, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will
officiate, with interment in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. 


Mr. Klasing was born in Hanover, Germany, on August 26,
1853, and moved to New York at the age of eighteen. Two
years later he came to Rome, where he had resided ever
since. Mr. Klasing had lived in his present home for about
fifty years. The deceased was active in business and civic
affairs here until his health began to fail five years ago.
He was a member of the Lutheran church.


Surviving Mr. Klasing are two daughters, Mrs. A. C. Ramsey
of Troy, Ala., and Mrs. Madeline Gill of Orlando, Fla.; and
two sons, C. L. of San Antonio, Tex., and A. F. Klasing, of
Chicago, Ill. 


Pallbearers will include B. F. Archer, Sr., Thomas E.
Lloyd, Harry Johnson, M. S. Lanier, Capt. Henry Stewart and
Hugh McCrary. They are requested to meet at the chapel at
10:15 o'clock."
