George A. Lloyd Suddenly Passes

Well Wednesday Night 
Dies from Paralysis of Heart Before Morning

In good health Wednesday night and a corpse, cold in death, on Thursday morning 
was the shocking close to the career of George Alexander Lloyd, who was found 
dead in his bed from paralysis of the heart early Thursday morning.

Mr. Lloyd was a railroad man by profession. He was with the N.O. & N.E. road at 
Meridian Miss. for 14 years and for 7 years was yard master of the East Rome 
yard of the Southern, who valued his service most highly. For the past four 
years he was in business in East Rome.

Retiring as usual on Wednesday night, Mr. Lloyd appeared to sleep soundly. Mrs. 
Lloyd arose early Thursday morning and noticed Mr. Lloyd was pale, but thought 
him still asleep. She went back to bed for a time and on getting up again 
thought strange that he had not awakened. Going over and putting her hand on 
him she was horrified to find that the warmth of life was gone. Her screams 
brought other members of the family and Dr. Watts was quickly sent for. But it 
was all too late. Death had come silently and without warning, evidently about 
3 o'clock.

Mr. Lloyd leaves three daughters, Mrs. C.C. Collins, and Mrs. Luke Cottrell, of 
Meridian Miss., and Mrs. Walter Walls, of New Orleans, and one son, Thomas E. 
Lloyd, of Rome, a former councilman of this city.

The sincere sympathy of the community goes out to the family in their sudden 
bereavement. The funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but it will 
not be until Saturday.
