(Lanky) Landers, 72, Armuchee Rte. 1, Floyd Springs Road, died Thursday in a Rome hospital from injuries received in an automobile-pedestrian accident several days ago. Mr. Landers was born in Floyd County, Feb. 27, 1906, son of the late James M. and Maggie Lee Rice Landers. He resided his entire life in Floyd County and prior to retirement in 1971 had been associated with Ernest Holmes Wrecker Co. of Chattanooga for more than 20 years. He was a member of New Armuchee Baptist Church and the Adult Men's Sunday School Class. He was a member of Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge 167 F&AM and was a past Worshipful Master. He was a member of the Low 12 Club and Floyd Springs Order of Eastern Star 443. He was married Sept. 13, 1930 to Vivian Wilson, who died April 10, 1975. Survivors include three sons; Herbert and Larry Landers, both of Armuchee Rte. 1 and Ladelle Landers, Villa Rica, one brother, W. D. (Pete) Landers, Rome Rte. 6, seven grandchildren; one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Armuchee Baptist Church with the Revs. Willard MacAllaster, Gerald Rogers and C. L. Curry officiating. Interment will be in Sand Springs Cemetery. Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge will have charge of graveside rites. The body will lie in state at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today. At other hours they will be at the home of a son, Herbert Landers, Floyd Springs Road. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to funeral services. Pallbearers are Ed Dempsey, W.G. Caldwell, B.W. Lingerfelt, Weldon Touchstone, Alvin Hyde and Jack Maxey. An honorary escort will include past Worshipful Masters of Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge 167 F&AM. Talley Brothers Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.(Note: Died August 17, 1978)
