There was no inquest, but the decision of Coroner Miller was that Mr. Lloyd came to his death from natural causes, owing to the fact that {there} were several witnesses when he fell to the ground. He was dead when those near reached him. It is thought that he was going to his home at 102 East 8th street. His step daughter-in-law, Mrs. Tom Lloyd, stated that earlier in the day he had complained of "not feeling well" and had stated it was his hope that when the time came he would "die suddenly". Mr. Lloyd was born in Floyd County and had lived here the major portion of his life. For a time he farmed in Texas, but during the last ten years had been living in Rome, during which time he was retired. His wife preceded him in death about two years ago. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. J.S. Floyd, of Gainesville, Texas; one brother, Julius E. Lloyd, of Montgomery, Ala.; one half-brother, Will Lloyd, Rome contractor; one step-son, Tom Lloyd, of Rome, who is also his nephew. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Emmett Cole Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock. The Rev. H.F. Joyner will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Sutherland, pastor of the Maple St. Baptist Church, where Mr. Lloyd was a member. Interment will be in the Antioch cemetery. Six nephews will serve as Pallbearers.
