The auto was driven by Quinn McArver, a well-known citizen of the county, and no blame whatever is said to be attached to him, as the auto was being driven at a moderate rate of speed and he could not stop it in time to avoid the fatal accident. Mr. Nichols has been unconscious ever since the accident and little hope of his recover was entertained from the time he was struck. An operation was performed Sunday afternoon, in an effort to save him. Surviving relatives are the widow, who before the marriage was Miss Lou Abrams; three sons, Curtis, Wyman and Wiley, and three daughters, Jennie, Pearl and Eva. Andy and Jack Nichols of Rome, and Wiley Nichols of Amarillo, Texas, his brothers also survive him, and his sisters, Mrs. W. A. Henna, (Hennon) Mrs. W. E. Wingard and Lottie Mathis, of Floyd County, and Jennie Rash and Mrs. Mary Satcher of Amarillo,Texas. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from Pisgah church, with Rev. Max Cook officiating and interment will be in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Howell-Cantrell Company. The death of Mr. Nichols will cause deep regret among all who knew him and its circumstances serve to make it peculiarly sad.
