He was born Oct. 6, 1894 in Paulding County, son of the late Robert Hamilton Carroll [Aug. 8, 1864 - Dce. 15, 1919] and Ellen Haynes Carroll [June 25, 1869 - May 31, 1938]. He was the grandson of George Wesley Carroll and Julia Lee. He had resided in Floyd County for most of his life. He was a member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church and was a past chairman of the Board of Deacons. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated a grocery store. His wife, the former Annie Mae Campbell [born May 21, 1892] died Sept. 15, 1959. Two son, Glenn Elmo Carroll [Feb. 26, 1917 - Oct. 02, 1964] and Robert Lee Carroll [Mar. 7, 1922 - Oct. 22, 1961], also died earlier. Survirors include four Daughters, Mrs Elsie Carroll Bailey [B:Jan. 23, 1920], of Rome, Mrs. Ellen Wood, of Rome [B:Sept. 15. 1930], of Rome, Mrs. Maime McGuire [B:Sept. 15, 1928], of Rome, and Mrs. Leona Graham of Sprtanburg, S.C. One Son: James Devard Carroll [B:Mar. 27, 1924] of College Park, Ga. One Brother: Willard Ira Carroll [B:May 14, 1907], of Cedartown, Ga. Four Sisters: Mrs. Delma Armenda Carroll Gilley [B:Feb. 6, 1889] of Cedertown, Ga. Mrs. Velma Beatrice Carroll Washington [B:Mar. 25, 1902] of Columbus, Ga., Mrs. Clara Bell Carroll Langford [B:Apr. 24, 1914] of Columbus, Ga. and Mrs. Luvie Inez Carroll Smith [B:Jan. 8, 1901] of Carrolton. 24 Grandchildren, 17 Great-grandchildren, Neices and Nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday [Jan. 22, 1975] in the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with the Revs. Ed Adams and Hobert Linkous officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cementery. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. today [Jan. 21, 1975]. Grandsons will be pallbears.
