Salmon Sr., age 64, passed away at 6 o'clock this morning at his residence on Boyd Valley Road, Rome Route 4, following an illness of one year. Born in Floyd County on Aug. 11, 1891, he was the son of Zach William and Josie White Salmon, and worked for a number of years for the Virginia-Carolina Chemical Company before retiring. Mr. Salmon was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, South, where he was a deacon for 43 years. He also belonged to the Woodmen of the World. He was married on Dec. 28, 1921 to the former Bonnie Wilkins. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Luther E. Salmon Jr., Wade A. Salmon and William O. Salmon, all of Rome Route 4; three daughters, Mrs. D. E. Lumpkin, Miss Emma Jo Salmon and Miss Ruth Salmon, all of Rome Route 4; one sister, Mrs. R. D. Peugh, of Aragon,; one brother, L. R. Salmon, of Cave Spring Route 2, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, South, with the pastor, the Rev. S. H. Pendley, and Rev, Robert Akins, of Piedmont, Ala., officiating. Burial will be in East View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lamar Rush, G. H. Brown, L. E. Smith, Raymond Stowe, J. D. Mathis and Alton Brewer. Deacons of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, South, will serve as honorary pallbearers. The remains will be taken to the residence tomorrow morning to rest until time for the services. Pallbearers are requested to assemble there at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
