Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 25, 2004, 1:15 pm (Rome News Tribune, Friday, January 10, 1975) Dallas Bane Smith, 54, 203 Alfred Ave., died Thursday afternoon in a Rome hospital following a sudden illness. Mr. Smith Was born in Cherokee County, Ala. April 28, 1920 and resided much of his life in Rome. A member of the Baptist Church he was the son of Mrs. Annie Mae Hartline and the late George T. Smith. He was a truck driver for Pet Bakeries, Inc. Survivors include his mother, his widow the former Miss Frances Mize, Rome; one daughter, Miss Sandra Smith, Rome; one son, Don Smith, Rome; two sisters, Mrs. B. B. Smart of Marietta and Mrs. Doris McConnell, Atlanta; two brothers, Howard Smith Atlanta, and Elmer Hartline, Rome and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Henderson Frazier Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Larry Davis, Billy Rampley and Eddie Williams officiating. Interment will be in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include Harold Proctor, Baltimore Smith, Virgil Haney, Dough Padget, Ollie Bell, Eddie Blankenship and Arvil Burkhalter. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Henderson Frazier Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
