She was 84 years old March 4. She is survived by four children, J.W. of Savannah, Okla.; Tom, of Summerville, R.P. of Kentucky; Mrs. Tom King, of Rome, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Jeff Whitehead, of Rome. Her husband having preceded her in death 29 years ago. Mrs. Padgett, or Aunt Mary as she was most generally called, spent the greater part of her life in and around this valley and was greatly loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife and a kind and loving mother. She united herself with the Baptist church in early life and lived a consistent Christian life until her death. Rev. K.C. Baker, of Summerville, assisted by Rev. Roberson, of Mt. Berry, conducted the funeral services. Additional Comments: She was the wife of John Wesley Padgett.
