Friday 28 January 1887 p 2 Col. Daniel S. Printup died at his home in Rome last week. He went to Rome in 1842 and had much to do in building up Rome and Northwest Georgia. He was the president of the Rome and Decatur railroad, and was perfecting all his plans for its early extension to Gainesville. What effect his death mayhave (sic) upon the completion of the road we do not know, but it is probable that the survey which was to have been made in a few weeks, will be postponed for a short while at least. We hope, however, the plans may not be permanently abandoned. With hundreds of others we lament the death of Col. Printup, who was known over all of Georgia.
