Born in Bartow County on August 20, 1891, Mr. Proctor was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Drummond Proctor. He moved with his family, to Floyd County at the age of nine and had spent the greater part of his life here. He was a farmer and carpenter and was a veteran of World War I. During World War II, he was employed by the government and was associated with the Battey General Hospital. He was a member of the American Legion and attended Dykes Creek Baptist Church. He was married on December 20, 1920, to the former Miss Lucy Fowler who survives. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Dr. John W. Proctor, of Rome and Max D. Proctor, of Sproull Road. Eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Dykes Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. William Parker, Jr. and the Rev. J.R. Allred will officiate with interment to follow in East View cemetery. The following friends will serve as pallbearers: J. M. Brown, C.T. Carver, John Thacker, C. E. Roberson, Alonzo Waid, C.W. Kerce, Alvin Fowler and Jeff Mathis. The body will remain at the funeral home until 1 p.m. Saturday at which time it will be moved to the church to lie in state until time for the funeral services. The family will be at the residence on Sproull Road. Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home will have charge of arrangements. (Note: Died July 7, 1960)
