ELBERT WATSON DIED THIS MORNING James Elbert Watson, 82 years of age, died this morning at his home on the Black Bluff road, following an illness of several months. Mr. Watson had lived in Rome 52 years, moving here from South Carolina. He was a prominent farmer and well known throughout the county. He was a devoted member of the Methodist church. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. J.B. Sims, Mrs. Oscar Wilkins, J.T. and W.P. Watson, of Floyd county, and J.E. Watson, Jr. of Sumter county. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Bush Arbor church, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Stratton, of Cave Spring. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Emmett Cole, mortician, has charge of arrangements. Rome News Tribune, December 22, 1926 Final Rites Held for James Elbert Watson Funeral services for James Elbert Watson, who died Tuesday morning, were held this afternoon at one o'clock at Bush Arbor church, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Stratton, of Cave Spring. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Watson was a prominent farmer and a leader in his community. He was 82 years of age. He is survived by two daughters and three sons. Emmett Cole, mortician, had charge of arrangements.
