Micajah Mayo was one of the first settlers of the town of Rome, GA. He owned a substantial plantation in Floyd Co, GA. At the settling of the estate slaves were sold. Micajah's daughter, Malissa Ann Mayo Foster lived the better part of her life in Chattooga Co, GA. It occurred to me that some of these slaves might have lived in the area after the war and thought it important to list this info. These are only first names, but may be of value when people are researching their heritage. So, here is a piece of history.
