The two companies were formed in response to the Indian war taking place in South Georgia, I have been unable to locate any record of their participation in any engagement after their formation. 4. BENNETT is found in the 1840 census for Cherokee Co., GA on page 191. 02. Moses CANTRELL, 1st Lieutenant, 1840 census, Forsyth Co., GA, Pg. 281 05. S. L. BENNETT, there are two BENNETTS' with first name initials of "S" listed in the 1840 census for Forsyth Co., GA. One is Sion BENNETT, found on page 265, he is the s/o Israel BENNETT & Jane KARR[CARR], m: Mary BAGLEY Cir 1812, SC. and is the nephew of Green BENNETT. The other is Samuel BENNETT and is found on page 272. I am not aware of any relationship to Green BENNETT. [If anyone knows for sure who S. L. BENNETT is please let me know]. 06. Joel BENNETT, 1840 census, Forsyth Co., GA, Pg. 281. There are three Joel BENNETTS' listed in the 1840 census, two in Hall Co., GA, Joel Sr. and Joel Jr. the other is found in Forsyth Co. GA. I believe the one in Forsyth Co. GA is Joel Edgar BENNETT, b: 30 Jan 1818, SC, d: 14 Jul 1903, Dawson Co. GA, s/o Elijah BENNETT & Edny PRUETT, m: Suannah HENDRIX on 19 Feb 1939, in Lumpkin Dawson Co., GA. and is the brother of Lemuel BENNETT. 10. Lemuel BENNETT, b: 12 Dec 1814, SC, d: Cobb Co., GA, s/o Elijah BENNETT & Edny PRUETT, and is the brother of Joel Edgar BENNETT, m: Lucinda NORRIS, 5 Nov 1835, Hall Co., GA, listed in 1840 census, Forsyth Co., GA, Pg. 281. 29.
