All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Robert Meadows rwmeadows@charter.net August 5, 2003, 6:59 pm Written: February 23 1811 Recorded: May 23 1811 Thomas & Yanaca Payne and Poyndexter & Ann Payne to David Slone, 23 February 1811 Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book T, left-hand page of folio 185: This Indenture made this twenty third day of February in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and eleven Between Thomas Payne and Poyndexter Payne of the one part both of the State of Georgia and County of Franklin, and David Slone of the State of South Carolina and District of Pendleton of the other part; Witnesseth that the said Thomas Payne and Poyndexter Payne for and in consideration of the Sum of three thousand Dollars to them in hand paid by David Slone at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath Granted Bargained and Sold and by these presents do Grant bargain sell confirm and convey unto David Slone his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land containing nine hundred and fifty acres more or less including the Improvement of Thomas Payne Poyndexter Payne and Nathaniel Payne on Toogalo River in the County of Franklin and State of Georgia [right-hand page of folio 185] Being a part of four different Surveys lying lying and being as follows Begining on Toogalo River where Charles Paynes land adjoins the river at a pine old corner South forty degrees East 65 Chains to a Dogwood on the bank of the creek, thence down and with the creek 35 chains 50 links to the mouth of the long branch thence up and with the meanders of the branch 22 chains to Middleton Woods line thence N 40 E 11 chains to a post oak corner thence N 50 W 5 chains 50 links to a post oak in the head of a branch, thence down and with the meanders of said branch to the creek thence down and with the meanders of the Creek to the River, thence up and with the river to the begining. Together with all and Singular the Rights profits and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the Said parcel or parcels of Land above discribed, unto the said David Slone his heirs and assigns forever; and we the said Thomas Payne and Poyndexter Payne for our Selves our heirs and assigns and all and every other person do warrant and for ever defend unto the said David Slone cleare of all other claim or claims and will warrant and for ever defend-- In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals the day and year first above written-- Signed Sealed & delivered ) his in the presence of ) Thomas T Payne (seal) R.
