Meadows rwmeadows@charter.net September 5, 2003, 12:40 am Written: April 12 1800 Recorded: October 14 1801 Nathan Stedman to Thomas Davis, 12 April 1800 Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book NNN, left-hand page of folio 87: State of Georgia ) This Indenture made this 12th day of April in Eighteen Franklin County ) hundred Between Nathan Stedman of County of Catham No. Carolina of the one part and Thomas Davis of Franklin County State of Georgia of the other part Witnesseth that the said Nathan Stedman for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred forty six Dollars and seventy five Cents to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Davis the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained sold & Delivered and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Thomas Davis all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said County of Franklin on the middle fork of Broad River and bounded as follows to wit adjoining Reubin Nail below and vacant on all other sides at the time of Running thence N 65.00 W 76 chain to a post oak corner thence S 25.00 W 38 chain to a pine thence S. 65.00 E 76 chain to a Cherry tree corner thence N 25.00 E 38 chain to the Beginning containing by Estimation 287 1/2 acres be the same more or less Together with all woods waters mines and minerals etc. which tract or parcel of land [right-hand page of folio 87] I promise to warrant & forever Defend unto the said Thomas Davis his heirs & assigns in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal the day & date above written-- Test ) John Tate ) Nathan Stedman (Seal) James Martin J.P. ) Recorded the 14th October 1801-- [Note: The clerk apparently skipped some words when transcribing this deed into the book, since part of the legal description of the metes and bounds is missing.
