Moses & Jane Payne to John Clarkson, 6 September 1796

Franklin County  )   This Indenture made this sixth Day of September in the 
year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and ninety six Between Moses Payne 
and his wife Jane of the County of Franklin and State aforesaid of the one 
part and John Clarkson of County & State aforesaid of the other part 
Witnesseth that the said Moses Payne and his wife Jane for and in 
consideration of the sum of two Hundred Dollars to him in Hand paid the 
Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath Granted Bargained & Sold and by 
these presents doth Give Grant Bargain sell and Confirm unto the said John 
Clarkson his Heirs and assigns all that Tract or parcel of Land lying and 
being in the County and State aforesaid on the North side of the Grove River 
adjoining William Thomas below and John Sandidge above Beginning at a Hornbeam 
of the South Bank of Grove River running thence N. 15. E 31 Chain to a Pine 
corner Thence S. 75. E. fifty

three chains to a hickory corner Thence S. 15. W. 21 chain to a Poplar corner 
on South Bank of said River Thence up the Meanders of the same to the 
Beginning containing one Hundred acres more or less being part of a tract of 
two Hundred acres granted to Thomas Payne and the said Moses Payne and his 
wife Jane for themselves and their Heirs Warrant and for ever defend the above 
sold Land and Premisses with every part and parcel thereof from the claim & 
demand of every Person or Persons whatsoever unto the said John Clarkson his 
Heirs and assigns for ever in fee Simple  In Witness whereof the said Moses 
Payne and his Wife Jane hath hereunto set their Hand & Seal the Day & Date 
above Written
