John Payne to Jordan Lacy, 12 April 1803 

Franklin County, Georgia, Deed Book TTT, right-hand page of folio 132:

This Indenture made and entered into this twelth day of Aprill in the year of 
our lord one thousand Eight hundred and three: Between John Payne of the one 
part and Jordan Lacy of the other part--- Witnesseth that for and in 
consideration of the Sum of Five hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the 
Said Jordan Lacy before the Signing of these preasants the recept whareof 
acknowlegeth have bargined and

Sold and by these preasants do bargin and Sel unto the Said Jordan Lacy a 
plantation or tract of land Containing one hundred and twenty five acres (the 
Same being more or less) lying and being in the County of Franklin and State 
of Georgia on the waters of big Shole Crieek the Same being waters of tugolo 
river buting and bounding as follows, Viz, East by Clevelands land North by 
Clevelands land west by Clevelands land and South by George Humble land the 
Same being a part of the Same survey begining at a pine corner thence N.85.W. 
50 chains to a pine corner on Clevelands line thence So.5.wt. 25 chains to a 
pine a conditional thence So.85.E. on Said line conditional 50 chains to a red 
oak corner on Clevelands line thence N.5.E. on S'd Cleavelands line 25 chains 
to the begining corner; the Said land originally Granted to Charles Gilbart 
then conveyed from S'd Gilbart to the above named John Payne grant bearing 
date 15 March 1787 the same being a part of s'd grant the S'd Jordan Lacy to 
have and to hold the S'd bargined track of land and premises with all the 
Singular rights and appertainences thair unto belonging wich S'd land I do 
warrant and forever defend from the right or claim of any person or persons to 
the S'd Jordan Lacy his heirs or assigns forever: In witness whareof the Said 
John Payne has hereunto Set his hand and Seal the day and year first above 
written
